Olympics 2032 - here we come!

A few weeks ago we saw a Gymnastics Exhibition at the park that we frequent.  Jane was completely enamored by the girls in matching leotards doing flips, jumps, and somersaults.  You can only imagine how excited she was when I told her that I had already signed her up for gymnastics classes to start the following week!

Though she requested a "black and pink" leotard like the older girls, she had to settle for this black one (that I bought in the girls section - which was traumatizing for me!) Is she not the cutest?
Daddy took Jane for her first day of class, in which she is with 10 or so other kids her age.  She did a great job following directions, especially when the teacher asked them to walk between exercise with their arms out and with pointy toes.  Here she is on the uneven bars, which she consistently says is her favorite part ("swinging on the bar"):
 Off to the balance beam!
And she even had a chance on the big balance beam!
It's been fun for us to see her in a class environment and to see how careful she is with directions and wants to please her teachers.  We've had fun practicing at home as well!  Watch out, we may have a future Olympian on our hands.  If nothing else, it is getting us excited for the Olympics in just a month!

5 Months!

Okay - so we are a bit late on our 5 month post, but that's only because we have been busy keeping up with the sweet smilin' babe!  These pictures pretty much sum up life with Elise these days - one happy camper!
Jane continues to exceed expectations in her big sister role, making sure she has toys to play with, pacifiers to soothe her, blankets to keep her warm, and songs to keep her company.  Tonight we caught her saying, "Elise, you've got a bella fache" (This is what Scott always says to Jane).
Elise has certainly hit a growth spurt and seems to be eating us out of house and home!  We took her cues (fussing as she watched us eat!) and decided it was time to introduce her to rice cereal.
Jane was certain to be there front and center for the big event and first spoonful.
Though she wasn't sure at first, she quickly opened her mouth for a second spoonful and hasn't stopped since.  She eats dinner with us each night and soon I'm sure we'll be adding another meal and switching it up a bit from rice.
Elise has been a super happy baby, with the exception of a few days this month in which it turns out she was teething - and voila, she got her first tooth (bottom front).  Jane now thinks Elise is ready for real food (like pizza!)...not quite.  Now that Elise has been eating more - she's been such a great sleeper, just waking up once per night (mommy and daddy are SO happy about this).  Elise has figured out how to roll over both ways and does the bicycle all the time...girl is on the move!
And, finally, Elise met Uncle Kyle, who came to visit this week.  Elise seems enamored but I'm not sure the enthusiasm was mutual...Jane was the first baby Kyle ever held and we are pretty sure Elise is the second (and this was only because BethAnn and Scott made him!)

Memorial Day

Jane and her friend Mischa ready to go!
Memorial Day did not let us down and proved to us once again why we continue to love our neighborhood...if not for this day alone!  We decided to join in the neighborly festivities and host our own Memorial Day brunch with friends before heading off to the parade.

Elise was sure not to miss it either.
We were too busy with mimosas, french toast bake, and lots of other yummy treats to take pictures at the house, but more importantly, we found a great spot for the parade:

BethAnn supervised while the Ashers relaxed before the parade started.

Though Jane loved the band, gymnasts, and fire engines, pretty sure her favorite part was the candy!

Her loot!
