Kitchen Sidekick

"Mommy, what you doing? You cooking? I wanna watch."I am really enjoying Jane's company in the kitchen these days. She grabs a chair, pulls it to the counter, and then find herself in this usual stance, trying to be in on the action and really having a hand in whatever cooking/baking is going on. Jane is particularly fond of making cookies, or anytime we get the flour and measuring cups out!

And she really likes to stir (this is her "cheese" smile)...

Although I think she may like eating cookies more than baking them (video forthcoming)...

Big Girl in the House!

Now that Jane has a very big room, she has decided (most of the time) that she would like to take part in big girl activities. Life has changed in the Maurer house a bit as Jane decided two weekends ago that she didn't want to wear diapers anymore. So, off to the store we went to pick out big girl undies and potty rewards...stickers, of course! Potty training is no piece of cake, especially with a Mommy who has a sprained ankle! But, Jane is slowly getting the hang of it. She definitely enjoys hanging out on her potty, as this just means more time for books!

Then, last weekend, when Mommy caught Jane about to launch feet first off the edge of her crib rail, they mutually decided it was time for a "big girl bed". An hour later, Jane was helping Daddy with the tools and getting in on the action of converting her crib to a toddler bed.

Even Stanley could hardly contain his excitement for the new bed!

Jane seemed to be enjoying the box more than the bed itself at the time...

All of Jane's friends are ready for bed too. At bedtime, Jane insists, "I want to climb in". Unfortunately, we are still working on trying to convince her to not "climb out"...
