Thankful for the Maurer Family!

Scott and I were thankful that Nana and Papa Maurer and Aunt BethAnn and Uncle Kyle came to spend Thanksgiving with us. We were happy to host again this year, especially if it meant not having to travel with a very busy one-year old. With all that happened recently, it was refreshing to be surrounded by family, share a meal with those we love, and laugh at a little girl who was pleased as punch to ham it up for her guests (once she finally warmed up).

We forgot to take pictures on Turkey Day, but Jane was a big fan of her first Thanksgiving meal. We ate at 3:30 pm, and by 4:15 pm Jane was down for a nap, or so we thought. Turns out the tryptophan hit Jane like a ton of bricks and the poor dear didn't wake up until 6:30 am the next morning! She was well rested for what we had planned for the rest of the weekend.

Reading with Nana
Watching (and trying to touch) the Ducks at the Peabody Hotel
A ride on the trolley in downtown Memphis
Lunch at Memphis' oldest restaurant (and Elvis' favorite spot)
Evening stroll around the zoo to check out the Christmas lights (Jane was a BIG fan with lots of "oooohs" and pointing)Jane's favorite exhibit included these wolves, easily mistaken for dogs...Jane kept barking and waving at them.
A visit to the Memphis Botanic Gardens
Thank you for a great Thanksgiving weekend!
