Jane - the Model

On Saturday, Jane showed off her modeling skills during a photo shoot. We finally had some professional pictures taken of her. Actually, the husband of one of my friends is a photographer and is looking to grow is portfolio and offered to take pictures of Jane for free. We couldn't pass that up, and it turns out we actually got a few great shots of Jane as well. Unfortuantely, I didn't come prepared to have him also take pictures of me, so please disgregard the sunglasses on my head and very casual wear! Feel free to check out our the pictures here. Enjoy!

Milestone Week

First and foremost - happy belated Father's Day to Scott. We had a great day celebrating with our daddy - homemade waffles for breakfast, lots of playing with the kuchen, and steak for dinner - it was a low-key daddy kind of day. Oh, and Scott loved his gift, a Flip video-camera. The love is evident in the rest of this post!

Jane had fun with the wrapping paper.
Our first Father's Day set the tone for the week. On Monday, Jane decided it was time to be a big girl and start sitting unassisted. Please note, it's a work in progress.

Then, on Thursday, not to outshine her sitting milestone, Jane crawled. Scott and I were pretty proud!

This video displays her strong army crawl.

Here she displays a full-on crawl, as well as her fascination with the sunlight.

We also had some time this week to visit the sprinkler park in one of the suburbs. This was a huge hit with Jane who didn't mind being sprayed in the face...a lot.

Can't wait to see what happens this week!

First Time for Everything

After seeing how much Jane loved the water, we decided we should make a baby pool purchase for the hot summer ahead. Dad and Jane enjoyed cooling off a bit, and as you can see, Jane is quite the little swimmer. Below it looks like her freestyle stroke is off to a good start.

And Jane is clearly not afraid of the water and she takes a little drink here.

This week we had some "first" moments. We've mentioned how Jane adores Stanley, well, now it looks like the feeling may be mutual as the two lounge together on the floor for the first time.
Jane has started propping herself up on one arm, but it cracks us up as it looks like she is posing and strutting her stuff.
Jane has also decided that she is bored with "ba, ba, ba" and has moved on to "la, la, la". She says it very definitively, sticking her tounge out and it can sometimes turn into "ya, ya, ya", but whatever, she gets her point across. Here's a little video of our little chatterbox, which she convenienetly likes to turn on during mealtime:

We are also on the verge of crawling. Jane got up on all fours this week and started rocking back and forth. We need to babyproof - stat! Here she displays her rocking skills, love for Stanley and just plain cuteness:

Seven Months!

As I write this, Jane is sitting in her swing (which she has very nearly outgrown), fighting sleep by squealing, "ba-ba-ba-ing", trying to sit-up, reaching up to the mirror, pulling her feet to her mouth, shaking her ring toys - basically, she is being a super fun seven-month old. We are having so much fun with her!
We managed to get a few shots of her with her bear, before she started attacking it by both hand and mouth!

Jane's had a fun week of new things. Our friends Betsy and Giles generously gave us their exersaucer (it has been through three kids and still works like a charm!), so Jane has been loving her playtime in it this week.

Jane has been fascinated by Scott and I drinking, mostly when you are holding her and then taking a drink. She reaches for your glass as you are drinking. So, I decided it was time for her to grow-up a little- no more bottles, only grown-up glasses from here on out. Okay, just kidding, but she did get a big kick out of this and she did a pretty good job too.

On Saturday, the weather was beautiful and just begging us to go to a park. So, we found one close by and visited Jane's first playground.

We relaxed in the shade a bit, where Jane mostly just wanted to dig around in the grass.

Jane's first slide ride!

Not sure who enjoyed this more, Jane or Scott?
After letting the swing cool-off for a bit, we finally tested the waters. Jane wasn't really a big fan of the swing as seen by her death grip on the swing.
Though, she did manage to squeak out one of her precious smiles for us. All-in-all, we had a great visit to the playground - the first of many, I am sure!
