US OPEN!

Reason # 3,958,294 why Jonnett is the coolest wife ever: surprise trip to the US Open!!! Yup, after the baby shower, Jonnett gave Scott a little card. In it she detailed how she had purchased plane tickets, arranged for us to stay with our cousin Jeremiah and his wife Meredith, got two day passes for Labor Day weekend, arranged for the dog to board over at the vet's office, and oh yeah, she also arranged for a call trade. Needless to say, Scott couldn't believe what he was hearing.
So with a ton of excitement we headed off for New York City. We spent all day Saturday hanging out with Jeremiah and Meredith. We took a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, visited Trinity Church, walked past the stock exchange, and checked out lower Manhattan.

The next day it was off to the Open in Flushing Meadows. We started by watching the #5 ranked player Nickolai Davydenko. He was beating some poor guy pretty badly and that's when we went over to see Gilles Muller, a qualifier from Luxembourg, on the grandstand. He was down 2 sets to love to the #18 ranked player in the world. Then he just started playing his heart out and won 7-5 in the fifth set!

On Labor Day we went back for some more! We took in some ladies singles action, watching Dinara Safina and Amelie Mauresmo. We also saw the #1 ranked doubles team in the world while watching a young American named Sam Querry give #1 Rafael Nadal a run for his money on the big screen. We also met and shook hands with the famous tennis reporter, Bud Collins, and we paid some respects to the greatest player of all time (see below). All in all, we had an amazing time. I can honestly say I never thought I'd ever get to see something like that. Yes, my wife is the coolest ever!

Way to go, Jonnett! So happy to hear the surprise was pulled off without a hitch, and so glad you two had a great long weekend in the Big Apple! J, you're putting all of us other wives to shame. :) (Good job!)
