"Drained"

(At The Wine Store) Chris said, "How much do I owe you for that wine?" Scott responded, "Nothing. You're gonna snake my drain later." That conversation needed some explaining to the bewildered cashier. But, the bottle of wine was more than necessary for the adventure that was about to ensue.

Five minutes before Chris and Jill were to arrive at our house to pick us up to go see The Bourne Ultimatum, Scott noticed a horrendous sewage smell coming from our guest bathroom. He invited Jonnett in to investigate, as he could not find the cause. With nose plugged, Jonnett looked around, and much to her dismay, she pulled back the shower curtain only to find that the tub was the culprit. After a few minutes of disbelief, we realized that our tub was full of junk from our garbage disposal. We had a clog somewhere, and a bad one at that. Doorbell rings, and little did Chris and Jill know that they were in for a long evening!

But, thank God for Chris and Jill, and their many suggestions. After a bottle of Drano and a plunger had failed, they made the trip with us to Lowe's to pick up a 20 ft. snake. They even provided moral support as Scott crawled under the house to figure out how the pipes are connected. The snake worked after a few tries, and with the help of our new Memphis friends, we managed to avoid a rather sizable plumbing bill. Whew!

Drab to Fab!

Whew! It took a few long days and a lot of primer, but it has
finally happened: the purple is gone. Jonnett's sister, Amy, came to lend a hand (and lots of painting expertise), to help with the bedroom/bathroom makeover. We can't thank her enough, as the new "Zen Mist" room has replaced our eggplant nightmares. Slowly, our Memphis house is truly becoming "our" home. Amy, how about we switch things up a bit and you can come back in a few months for a tiling project in the bathroom? Anyone else?

We did take some time to enjoy ourselves on Friday night, and went out on the town with our
family that also live in Memphis, Chris and Jill (Amy's brother-in-law and wife). Of course, a visit to Memphis is not complete without a trip to Beale street . This must include a "Big Ass Beer" and a dance with the street musician who was refusing to continue playing unless individuals in the crowd danced. Needless to say, Jonnett and Amy got their groove on!
